WORLD CLASS INITIATIVE
Project Laboratory

Project Six – Scientist Network

Engaging in discussions about our world through conversations with scientists.

Our Vision

The World Class Initiative is committed to providing tools that will promote positive social interaction and nurture essential knowledge that fosters learning, understanding and respect between individuals, families, communities, cultures, educational organizations and schools. One such tool will be an online social network where participants can discuss issues, topics and ideas related to Global Warming & Climate Change.

This social network will include peer-to-peer discussions of local environmental issues and global scientific topics identified by the participants. The organization of these forums will be modeled on existing local forums, one example of which is the Twin-Cities based forum e-Democracy.org – a nonprofit that actively promotes active citizenship. The global scientific topics will feature interactive segment features that include:

– Talk with an Energy Expert - Scientists studying the energy future, new fuel substitutes, carbon sequestration and other associated topics.

– Talk with an Environmentalist - Environmental advocates for promoting recycling, lowering energy demands and sustainable agriculture.

– Talk with an Economist - Economists studying carbon credit markets, advocating carbon neutral practices and the economies of local sustainable practices.

Our Goals

To stimulate and moderate discussions on topics related to the science and economics of Climate Change. To produce online tools that promote conversations that are a fertile source of inquiry and merge information and commentary on environmental issues.

To provide instruction on Mashups of data that captures the attention and interests of young environmental learners.
